Do you ever pass the bus, crossing over a double line?

I know it’s illegal, but let’s say you’re in a hurry and the bus makes a stop in front of you, barely any cars coming the way, will you go around?

Answer #1

Only if the reason for doing so is worth the ticket I’ll be receiving in the mail later on.

Answer #2

Nope, everytime I do I get a ticket

Answer #3

If the school bus is loading or unloading students and the stop arm is out or moving out, passing that bus for “any” reason not only endangers a child who could end up being hit by your car ( most kids assume your obeying the bus stop arm). And yes last June two kids being unloaded and crossing were hit by a car with a person doing exactly that. It’s not just a squad car being around that can net you the ticket, the bus drivers are trained and obligated to report your plate number. That will earn you the ticket without an officer about. Judges view those actions as child endangerment so don’t expect any sympathy going before the judge. Leaving a few minutes earlier is a far better choice then the possabilities of the alternatives occurring.
Also, passing a stopped school bus over a railroad crossing isn’t too bright ether and you risk a collision with the bus which could be on the tracks . If you get into a collision with a school bus, understand they are equal to 40 ft tankers, their bumpers are solid steel and raised. They can take off the entire roof of your car (your head included) and sustain next to no damage at all on impact.

Answer #4

Well not just a school bus( I should’ve detailed my description more) but like the local bus, when they are picking picking people up and yes I do agree risking that someone could be walking in front and not noticing a driver pulling around it. But I do see where your headed and I just watch people and usually the stop is at a corner so if a car pulls out there would be hesitant stops on breaks or accidents that occur for that reason, and I must say my mom went around someone while they were turning and she shouldn’t have) and someone pulled out and my mom damaged her drivers side door, but barely on our front bender. But going around any vehicle in general isn’t the brightest idea, especially going around them when they are makin a left hand turn.

Answer #5

Sorry, the school bus passing was what came immediately to my mind as that is statistically growing to epidemic proportions as is the fatalities and accidents. Actually pasing any large vehicle that obstructs full view, in a car is a bad idea. A mistake won’t get anyone to where they were going any sooner and could end up costing far more then the attempt was worth.
