I don’t have a positive answer, I’m afraid. In my own humble opinion, I think come February your TV will be toast.

I’m old. Really old. So, I have personally watched a market go from wire recorders, to reel to reel tape recorders, to 4 track players, to 8 track players, to cassette players, to CD’s, to computers and individual MP3 players.

When the next generation of something comes in, the last one is pretty much over with as far as sales, popularity and usefulness on a grand scale.

Your portable TV was most likely designed for analog and not digital. So, when all the signals go to digital, your TV will be virtually a thing of the past. (Yes, I realize that you are speaking more of some type of “converter” for what you have…but I just don’t think it is going to happen. I doubt that manufacturers will make much money selling converters for small portable analog television sets when they can make so much more money on the new HD television broadcasts).

What I “do” see coming in now, however, is HD television being offered on the internet. Examples might be found at www.veoh.com; AOL TV, Yahoo TV… and so on. So, it would be my presumption that the small TV that you are currently watching will be soon replaced with some of these units that are handheld, can connect to the internet as well as a cell phone, and “they” will end up being the next generation portable TV. You will be able to watch your favorite programs on them now instead of the old analog portable TVs.

Sorry ‘bout that. :-)
