My first time preparations

ok so im turning 15 this year and well everyone is talking about when they want to have sex and everything and I think I want to start when I turn 16 if im with the right guy and all, but I want to know some things first like im getting 3 needles to prevent cervical cancer and I know you still need to get pap smears every 2 years but is there anything else I need to get done like more tests? and can I go to the docters to get a pap smear by myself because it would be a bit weird if my mum took me!! and are there any good info sites I coud check out?? possibly australian ones since I live in Australia!! any info will be appreciated!! thnx muchly!!

First of all why do you want a pap smear now? You dont need any check up before you start to have sex but the question is what sort of protection will you use. I would recomend going on some form of the pill and using condoms. This way its a double protection. I would wait until all of your needles are done as having sex before you have the needles might sort of counteract having them in the first place. usually you start to have papsmears after you start being sexually active or 2 years after. Then every 2 years after that. If you want to private chat about this funmail me im in australia too and my daughter has just started getting the needles herself. When you become sexually active you should have pap smears EVERY year and also an STD/STI screening. You have to look in your local area to see if there might be a women’s health clinic. Call them up and ask about their rules with minors - if you can seek care unaccompanied by an adult.

It will also be a good time to ask about hormonal birth control options as I assume you want to prevent pregnancy.
