My dog has a bladder problem.

I didn’t know where to put this question. My puppy/dog is still not potty trained. Does anyone have any good ideas for getting him to quit. My apt. is beginning to smell like a urinal. It’s gross…please hlp

I have a senior dog (16 yrs old) and while she is potty trained she doesn’t always make it outside. We invested in a nice carpet shampooer so as soon as it happens when clean the spot up with that and the smell is gone and so is the stain. So I suggest you invest in one.

There are also spot treatment sprays that have a scent that are supposed to discourage them from messing in the same spot.

Now for training him. Everytime he messes in the house you need to rub his nose in it and firmly say NO. You can tap him on the snout too.

Take him out regularly and when he does do his business outside praise him. Get down to his level with a treat in hand. Pet him and say “Good boy” etc.

Soon he will learn what is bad and what is good. If this doesn’t do the trick after a few weeks then maybe it’s time to make him an “outdoor dog”.
