So this piece of music in the key of 3 sharps. So since the g sharp was cancel with a natural is the f a sharp or is it also natural? So does a natural sign cancel out the rest of the sharps in a meassure?
The natural sign only cancels out the one sharp for that measure. For the measure at the top, the F is canceled out by the natural but only for that measure unless the natural sign were placed again in a different measure! None of the other sharps are cancelled just the F unless a natural were to be placed for another note as well. For the bottom measure, it indicates that ONLY the G sharp is being cancelled, there is no natural on any other note and it is only cancelled in that one measure lest it be indicated again in a different measure.
As I said, the natural only effects the one note it is put for. So no the f does not become natural in that measure, it stays sharp in that measure. However in top measure, the f is natural because the natural sign cancels it out.
Gotcha thank you!!!! I have band auditions coming up and for some reason I could not remember! Thank you soooooo much!!!!!! :)
So since the g has become natural does the f also or does that stay sharp?
