Do you consider marijuana a drug and why ?

Do you consider marijuana a drug and why ??

Answer #1

“Studies show that 6 to 11 percent of fatal accident victims test positive for THC”

6-11 percent, sure that’s fine. They also dont state if they are on any other types of drugs along with marijuana now do they. They also dont state if they are also intoxicated do they? You only looked up information to prove your point. You didn’t look up the other side of it. It also says they test positive for it, marijuana stays in your system for a month, so they didn’t neccasarily have to be high at the time for them to test positive.

“possible hallucinations” Any body that has ever smoked can tell you, you DO NOT hallucinate while on marijuana, those who do, are on some other type of drug as well not just marijuana.

“people trying to quit report irritability, difficulty sleeping, and anxiety. They also display increased aggression on psychological tests, peaking approximately 1 week after they stopped using the drug” (Marijuana Abuse),” Those are symptoms of trying to quit ANYTHING, including ciggarettes and alcohol which are both completely legal.

All they are doing is testing to prove their point. While in fact, like I said before, marijuana stays in your system for an entire month. The person could not have even smoked within that day or couple of days and would still test positive.

You also did not do any research on anything else, you only looked up what you wanted to and ignored the other studies done on it.

its not a drug because it grows on this earth naturally people say its a drug because of “bad journalism” drugs are processed, things are done to it chemically

These are some of the comments I have copied from a forum

-pharmaceuticals are known to kill more people than illegal drugs

-marijuana is the number 1 cash crop in the world it serves as a natural medicine and has many other uses thats why they prohibited it so big companies can make more profit thanks to “bad journalism”

-can also help aids patients, aids diminishes appetite have them smoke a joint and they regain their appetite counteracting the illness

-no one can die from smoking cannabis and has been no known deaths compared to everything else including alcohol, tobacco, etc..

I myself have asthma and smoking opens up my airways making it easier to breathe with no side effects when medically legalized in my state I look foward to becoming a patient for prescription marijuana. 12 states have already legalized it along with other countries in the world and more following my job is to educate people that are not aware of the plants uses

re-legalize!

-I did most of my research through websites, books, magazines, and the news norml.org high times magazine etc..

  • theres more to it than just getting high and I believe legalizing it would make this a better world to live in

-God bless the whole crop!

  • and for people that dont smoke, you dont need to smoke it to support it

-all the better reason for the government to legalize.. couple reasons why it should be legalized: -will be removed from black market and stop empowering gang members -medical reasons -would be sold like alcohol, remember alcohol was once prohibited too (in stores away from children, have to be 21+) -would be a law that you cant drive while intoxicated on weed -prison population would lower (prisons are overcrowding with nonviolent offenders) -keep patients from being convicted -would provide millions of jobs for people -would make us an independent country (fuel, etc.., debt free america)

people with an addiction (including hard drugs) shouldnt be thrown in jail, they need help theres more people in jail with mental illnesses than there are in mental institutions

the list goes on

  • the War on Drugs is a failure, its a war on its own people. policies need to be changed we pay billions in taxpayers money to keep the war going and neither side is winning thats just a waste of our tax money I wonder what they do with all that money.. those greedy bastards just sell drugs back onto the street, you can even check urself on that there was a time when there was a cia operation transporting drugs overseas into america the government also provided Rick Ross with plenty of heroin to go around, course making money from it

the truth must be exposed, theyre dirty work must stop!

-Of course we can do something about it, we all just need to unite screw the federal government remember slavery? if no one stood up im pretty sure it would still be going on people were tortured, beaten, killed and thrown in jail but that didnt stop them standing up for their rights eventually slavery was abolished same with alcohol prohibition eventually became re-legalized

  • its like theres some kind of conspiracy going on I sense the government is up to no good and trying to control us. credit cards, money, and now they have chips that can be implanted in skin for uselful reasons but if in the wrong hands well were pretty much fuct they hiding the truth from us its dangerous to be right when the government is wrong they got theyre privacy but we dont. they want to know everything were doing on our leisure time

get up stand up!

  • marijuanas not anti-establishment because its illegal, its illegal because its anti-establishment

all facts stated have been double-checked and confirmed what more info? norml.org hightimes.com americandrugwar.org flexyourrights.org lets all make this a better place to live in!

It isnt about what I consider, the definition of a drug is a chemical substance that alters normal bodily function, it isnt a subjective defintion… Marijuana (like caffeine, nicotine or alcohol) alters nromal bodily functions which makes it a drug…

Answer #5

if anyone argues to me that alcohol and tobacco should remain legal and marijuana should not, you obviously have not ever smoked marijuana and have absolutly no valid imput on the matter. its completly hippocritical and you should lose all rights to pollute the environment with your bullshit george w bush supporting indian fragments.

Answer #12

sillygirl006 Where have you seen these kids on marijuana killing in accidents? Please tell me. All you hear about is people dying because of alcohol related deaths, especially in car accidents. Do your research. Also, marijuana does not cause lung cancer. There are also many ways to ingest marijuana without smoking it, and they are perfectly healthy for you.

Answer #13

You can’t debate whether marijuana is a drug, because it is. Now should be legal, yes. Alcohol is a way more potent and harmful drug (yes it is a drug, do some research, so if caffeine), and yet it is legal. Alcohol kills million of people a year, marijuana - not a single one. The only reason it’s not legal is because they government would not be able to tax it, since it can be home grown. It’s natural, its not man made.

Risks

“The major active chemical in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which causes the mind-altering effects of marijuana intoxication” (Marijuana Abuse). THC enters the brain by passing through the lungs into the bloodstream, and then affects various centers in the brain, causing several health risks outlined below.

“Health risks include: impaired thinking and memory; diminished balance and coordination; increased chance of heart attack; increased risk of respiratory infection; increased risk of lung cancer, mouth cancer, and cancer of the respiratory tract; and possible hallucinations (Marijuana as Medicine). There is also a link between marijuana use and fatal accidents. “Studies show that 6 to 11 percent of fatal accident victims test positive for THC” (Marijuana Abuse). Marijuana use may also hamper the ability of the immune system to fight off infections. In addition, marijuana may be addictive. Research has shown that “people trying to quit report irritability, difficulty sleeping, and anxiety. They also display increased aggression on psychological tests, peaking approximately 1 week after they stopped using the drug” (Marijuana Abuse),”—associated content.

“Marijuana Raises Risk of Fatal Car Crash French Study Shows Pot Smokers More Likely to Be Responsible for Deadly Accident

WebMD Health NewsDec. 1, 2005 - People who drive after using marijuana are nearly twice as likely to be involved in a fatal car crash.

French researchers studied all drivers involved in fatal car crashes over a two-year period and found 7% tested positive for marijuana, including nearly 3% who tested positive for a combination of marijuana and alcohol.

Although marijuana’s share of fatal crashes is much lower than those attributed to alcohol, researchers say the results show that marijuana use, even in low doses, significantly increases the risk of fatal car accidents.

More Pot, More Deaths In the study, published in the medical journal BMJ, researchers reviewed information on 10,748 drivers who were involved in fatal car crashes and took required tests for drugs and alcohol.

Twice as many drivers involved in fatal car accidents tested positive for marijuana compared with a group of other drivers.

Researchers say about 2.5% of the fatal crashes were attributable to marijuana compared with nearly 29% attributable to alcohol.

The study also showed that drivers who tested positive for marijuana were more than three times as likely to be responsible for the fatal car crash. Researchers say the likelihood of being at fault increased as the blood concentration of marijuana increased,” —webmd.

Answer #27

…I didn’t say there weren’t other studies. of course there are.

I guess it’s pointless trying to discuss this with you. have fun getting high. peace.
