i want to buy one but then i was looking up netbooks and they were saying that they didn’t have cd/dvd rom drives which was a bit rubbish and now im CONFUSED please help FA?!?!

Answer #1

A netbook only gets on the internet and doesn’t have word or anything else you’d find on a regular computer

Answer #2

also netbooks get their internet service from like a cell phone company i think im not too sure. another difference is, laptops are bigger, netbooks are much smaller

Answer #3

Laptops are full computers with more memory, bigger hard drives, faster CPU’s. Netbooks, just like the name, Net-Books, main use is to get on the internet cheaply. You can take them anywhere and most people can afford them. They have a smaller keyboard, hard drive, a slower CPU and just like you said no internal CD/DVD drive. The version of windows that the netbook comes with, is called Windows 7 starter and some come with XP. Some netbooks you have too look at the specifications to see if you can use them for what you need. They are not good if you plan on any video editing, Photoshop or gaming. If you have very basic needs and want something cheap and lightweight that will be use for 98% web surfing on the go then get a netbook. If you want a full fledged computer then get an laptop.

Answer #4

Some netbooks offer the cell phone functionality when you purchase them from a cell phone carrier as an extra. But all Netbooks connect to the internet fine or your wireless router just like any notebook from their internal wi-fi antenna.

Answer #5

That’s actually not true - the only difference between the two, really, is that the netbook is smaller and doesn’t have a disc drive. My netbook could do anything that any laptop could do and Microsoft Office was installed.

Answer #6

Oh, whoops. I had one and it wouldn’t let me do that.

Answer #7

It also isn’t as fats and powerful as a laptop.

Answer #8

A netbook does include word and powerpoint my netbook does anyway the only difference is is that it is smalller and easier to carry around than a normal laptop.

Answer #9

The functionality of laptop and netbook are the same. The difference between netbook and laptop is the size. Largest difference is the physical size and weight. Netbooks are much smaller and lighter, more portable. This is fine if all you want is to surf the web, take care of e-mails, etc. Perhaps the largest setback of a netbook is the lack of a cd/dvd drive and serial/data ports. Recently I’d purchased an Intel Atom Processor based Laptop, which allows me to access anything, anywhere and anytime and wherever I’d like to. Intel atom based processors Netbook is a great little piece of technology, lightweight and easy to take anywhere.
