Why can't I log in to one specific website?

I’m in a class and I need to get on the school’s Blackboard website. I can load any website on my computer except for this one particular school website, though I’ve never had issues logging in before. Everyone else in the class is logged on and my connection is fine. I’ve tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox, I’ve restarted the computer and refreshed the page, I even tried to troubleshoot through the control panel. Anyone have any ideas?

Answer #1

Clean your browser history and cookies. Then try again.

Answer #2

I tried it, still doesn’t work. Any other ideas? :(

Answer #3

And clean your saves passwords too. Maybe you accidentally saved a false password.

Answer #4

Or ask the teacher who is responsible for it, wether your account on the site was blocked or removed for some reason. Or ask them to reset your password.

Answer #5

It’s not so much that I can’t access my account, it’s that I can’t get the page to load. It says on both IE and Firefox that it my computer can’t connect. But every other site is fine, and everyone sle can get on Blackboard, which is what I don’t get.

Answer #6

Some sited need to have cookies enabled, and others don’t. Maybe you just need to enable cookies. Also third pats cookies.

Answer #7

I have cookies enabled. Still not working :(

Answer #8

*Sorry, I guess I should be more clear. I don’t really mean log in, I mean that my computer just won’t load one specific website. It doesn’t seem to be that the website isn’t working, it seems to be coming from my computer.

Answer #9

OK, so you say this is a school website. You can get to any site outside the school, but you can’t get this site. Is it on a server inside the school?

If so, check whether people who can reach the site have a different proxy server setting than you have. It may be that you need an exception in the proxy server setting for a local site. (I can’t tell you the exact path to click for the proxy server settings because my browser is not English but it should be somewhere in extras /Internet options/ network settings) Compare these to the settings of a person who has a working connection.

Good luck.

Answer #10

Yeah, this happened to one of my friends - she couldn’t log into Facebook on a particular computer, but can on the other pc. And yeah, one way to solve this problem is the suggestion above.
