Lobe Piercing

I pierced my own lobe (the second hole spot) with a safety pin needle that I only sterlized with rubbing alcohol and not with a flame or some other sterlizing liquid. Without the flame, am I prone to a greater infection? Should I just take it out now and let a pro do it for me? or should I wait 24 hrs and see how it looks? ps. I didnt see any blood at all and I used ice which caused no pain whatsoever

Yeah, but next time you shouldn’t use a safety pin!

Answer #2

Alright, I already put the earring in, its just stinging but im guessing thats normal…right?

Answer #3

I did that a couple times too! just leave it for the 24 hours and then put the earing in, you should be fine!

doggyland - why isn’t it ok to use a safety pin? Get serious and use your brain! A safety pin ISN’T meant to be used for a piercings! They have PIERCING NEEDLES and PROFESSIONAL PIERCERS for a reason.

thanks for answering the question… NOT! and ps. its perfectly fine for people to use safety pins cause mine is the way I like it… and I didnt have to waste moola on getting a pro to pierce my lobe. anyone wanting to pierce their lobe with a safety pin… just sterlize it first and you should be JUST fine :)

Why isn’t it ok to use a safety pin instead of a normal needle for piercing? Is there a greater risk of infection?

Answer #7

That was probably the dumbest thing you could have done. You DON’T pierce ANYTHING yourself. Piercings are meant to be done PROFESSIONALLY. Why? Because a professional actually knows what they’re doing. Anytime you do a piercing yourself, you run a VERY high risk of infections, plus you probably didn’t even do it right. Take the earring out ASAP. You might get infection, and if that happens, you may need to see a doctor (but of course that’s what you get for doing a piercing yourself! Hopefully you’ll actually learn from this idiotic move and never do something like this again). Wait for the hole to clear up and be 100% healed and then have it re-pierced BY A PROFESSIONAL.
