Should I lend them the money?

My “friend” asked me for money. She is apparently pregnant and needs the money for an abortion. I say apparently as she has told me that she is pregnant but she told someone else something different. Her mum refused to give her the money and isnt being very supportive. I know I probably shouldnt lend her the money as it will be a considerable amount. It’s just that I will feel bad for not helping her out… I try to help everyone I can as much as possible. She does have a job which she has just started so wont be getting paid until a months time. She does already owe me for the odd drink though… Any advice would be appreciated. Would would you do?

You know what you do? Lend her the money and make her sign a contract stating that she will pay it back..even if in payments. Just make sure that you keep and protect that contract just in case she causes trouble…

I heard about one way to lend a friend money that I always thought was a good idea:

Go with your friend to the bank and have the bank lend your friend the money. As a friend you can co-sign for the loan which you means you may have to give the bank your money (in a deposit account) until she pays off the loan.

If she does not pay off the loan (and it sounds like she won’t) you will lose your money, but she will get a bad credit rating and the bank (not you) will keep reminding her to pay back the money. You won’t be the bad guy … the bank will.

Nothing wrong with helping someone get back on their feet but i would be cautious about funding them to remain where they are. Also think to yourself if you are in agreement with abortion. Dont fund something your against. If you are for it then i guess its OK. Also try to see if you are being asked for the help because of trust and no where else to turn or if it is because you would say yes. Just some things that i would think of if it were me being asked. Sometimes people tend to take advantage of a good thing. Sometimes they generally trust you and depend on you for your good advise/help.
