My laptop is very slow what can i do to make it faster?

My laptop is getting old it has 5 years and it has windows 7 but i have to wait like 30 minutes to installs like 24 updates and thats make me crazy so if i change windows 7 for windows 8 that would make it faster or not. Tell me please thank you.

Go to your settings and try a disk cleanup, compress the files, delete everything you don’t need.

If you get really desparate, save everything you need (documents, etc.) that you can’t afford to loose and reformat your drive. CAUTION: you will lose EVERYTHING that you haven’t saved onto another drive or DVD, but your laptop will be back up to its old zippy self. The slowdown is probably because so many things are running in the background. Make sure that you keep an anti-virus (only one), an anti-spyware (several are OK if run-on-demand), and a firewall program running once you get it up to where you want it IF you don’t want to reformat, then make sure you run all the ‘anti’ programs you have. There are many good programs available for free - e,g. AVG (anti-virus), Spybot and Ad-Aware (anti-spyware), and Zone Alarm (fire wall). Good Luck!!
