Which language should I learn - French, Spanish, or Mandarin?

I am looking to focus my spare time on learning a language. However, I am not sure which is best to learn.

I studied French at school for 4 years, so already have a moderate fluency in French. However, I worry that it is not the most useful language for my future.

I am interested in learning Spanish because my yearly vacation is in Spain. I have also been told it is a reasonably easily language.

I am interested in Mandarin Chinese because I wan’t to go into business when I am older. However, I have looked over it already, and it is very hard.

Which to you think is the best way to go?

Thanks.

Answer #1

Depends on where you intend to travel but probably most useful, Spanish

Answer #2

Thank you for your response :)

Answer #3

I would learn Spanish since you visit Spain often, but Mandarin would be very useful to learn as well.

Answer #4

I’m currently learning Mandarin, and it is in fact the most useful. Nonetheless, it’s very difficult and takes up lots of time and practice. It’s not something you learn in your ‘spare time’. If you’re doing it just for fun, go with Spanish. It’s a more realistic goal.

Answer #5

French.

Answer #6

Which language would serve you best in obtaining a career in the usage of that language.

Answer #7

French! You could go to France and not have a whole lot of trouble plus the French language is very romantic/sexy so if a person doesnt know French you could totally cuss them out and theyd think youre being romantic XD

Answer #8

Spanish, since alot of people use it and its a very romantic language french sounds like a gargling baby :p

I would learn Mandarin Chinese because it could help you in the long run especially since you’re thinking about pursuing business in China! It’s definitely a very challenging language, but the sooner you learn the better right? Spanish is very beneficial especially in the states. I just don’t think that you should focus wholly on Spanish though. Spanish is pretty easy because a lot of the words are similar to English words- cognates. So my advice for that is to learn Spanish in your spare time! As for French, since you’re already familiar with the language, I don’t really see a reason to continue to learn it unless you were planning on moving there or something haha. Hope I helped!

Answer #11

Definitely French or Spanish. It’ll help you the most. :)

Answer #14

I took both French and Spanish. I liked them both as well. Spanish is very easy and similar to French … I actually find Spanish a lot easier. It might help you seeing they are similar.

Answer #15

Why not take both spanish and Mandarin?
