Knee giving way
My knee keps giving way..well not all the time but it has happened quiet a lot and now it is realy sore this last couple of days.. I can still walk and bend it etc..
but sometimes when I bend it I get this grating noise and it is painful. I dont really want to go to the doctors because I dont think its that serious..but do you know if there is anything I can do without going there..
..when I walk up or down the stairs I can feel it about to give in
Like the other day in school my leg gave way when I stood up luckily I didnt actually fall..but a few days before that I was standing up at home and it gave way beneith me..it also happened to my wrist ..
Please any ideas will be great
hon, you should see a doctor. you could be on the verge of a dislocation. I say this because you describe the same symptoms I had before my knee “gave out” I dislocated my knee dancing, skiing, and just bending over in the sand to catch a wave (washing sand off my back side), delivering soup to a neighbor (my toe hit a rise in the side walk)- four times before I finally had surgery. It would have been less severe if I had received physical therapy after each episode, but they (the doctors) just let me go about my business as usual. With each dislocation I tore more ligaments and had more bone chips (floating around) inside. I unfortunately ended up losing my meniscus and am now bone-on-bone. I wouldn’t wish this on anybody. Please see a orthopedic surgeon ASAP and all blessings
I would really go see a doctor. I had about the same things happening and I put it off for about a year but then it got so bad where I wasn’t sleeping and could barely walk. When I finally went to the doctor I ended up have tendonitis. I had to do 3 months of physical therapy which didn’t help. Now I have to pay with it by limiting myself to really any physical activities, otherwise it gets really swollen, and wearing a knee brace almost 24/7. It’s better to be safe then sorry. If there is something wrong it’s better to treat it sooner or later, it will just keep getting worse.
You should see a doctor. If they recommend surgery, seek other opinions, because there has been a lot of debate in the medical community as to whether or not knee surgery is actually beneficial.
That said, you can ease joint symptoms (including bad knees) and slow down cartilage damage by taking Glucosamine and chondroitin daily supplements. This has been medically proven to be effective.
