Is it ok to date a girl 1 and a half years younger than me?

I’ve just turned 17 and in 6th year and there’s this girl who I’ve absolutely adored for quite a few months now (although I’ve known her for a couple of years).

She’s 15 and a half and in 4th year. I really, really like her and I don’t think I’ve ever loved someone so much before. I think she likes me as well but is a bit shy to say something.

If we are going to go out I’m going to have to make the first move. The problem is, I’m really worried that people will just see “6th year going out with 4th year” and assume I’m much older than her when I’m really not. I’m worried that I’ll be followed by shouts of “pedo” and “perve” wherever I go, and that if I was going out with her this would make the relationship unworkable. Also, I’m not sure how her parents would react.

Please help me, I’m really so in love with this girl but I don’t know what I should do!

And in answer to beth_liveyourlife - no that is absolutely not the case. I’m fully aware that sex would be illegal and I don’t plan on doing anything she doesn’t want to.

I had the same problem when I first started seeing my boyfreind although the age gap was even bigger than yours. Personally I say; if you love them that much it doesn’t matter what people say anyway. it’s your life not theirs’ I’ve had my fair share of abuse because of my relationship but I don’t care. If you take that attiutude then you should be fine.

Please, please- I hope you are not doing this just because she is young, naive and you think it will be easy to get in to her pants. If that’s what you think then that is really discusting and wrong. If not and you actually love her then fine- go for it.

Your age difference is a very acceptable one. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

i can see where your coming from cause im 13 and my boyfriend is 11 and i was scared to see what my dad would say but he doesnt care since he is 40m and dating a 29 years old but if you really love the girl who cares what other people say cause all that matters is that you are happy and if your happy your friends will be happy for you.
