Is it a bad idea to let a 4 month old baby near dogs and cats?

Answer #1

i’d say yes.

Answer #2

Probly especially around cats and dogs that u don’t trust 100% . :)

Answer #3

the amount of times ive herd on the news about children being hurt or even killed by their family dog is just too many.

i think ive read that they get jealous if their not getting the attention anymore…. its been a while since i read it but i personally would not have a 4 month baby near a dog just to be on the safe side and especially not in this hot weather.

Answer #4

Yeah that’s chihuahuas. They need their own personal human to them selves. They r the breed that gets jelous the most. :-/

Answer #5

uhmm yes, wait untl the baby is about 7 - 8 months, cz the baby cud be allergic to the pets.

Answer #6

it really depends and we cant jst say no due to the deaths by family pets. Because most of the deaths by family pets arnt the animals fault only,,,, i think its horrible to put them down after that,, yes it is an animal, my dog may seem very domestic n loving and all but its still an animal. Most of these deaths are mainly due to the fact that parents leave their child alone with the animal…. the baby or child might pull its tail or fur thinking its fun and not understanding that it could hurt the animal. The dog gets very upset, parents not there to tell the child not to do those kind of things or to watch the animal. As long as your in the room its fine to have children in contact with pets. Its the same thing as leaving a child in a room unatended with a window open ect… When i was a child i loved and adored my neighbours cat, King …. he was larger than me and id follow him everywhere… my parents didnt mind me playing with him but they watched out for me when i was round. Of course i probably pulled his tail once in a while, i didnt kno any better,.. but someone was always there to make sure nothing happened.

Answer #7

Depends on several things. If there is any animal hair allergy in the babies family, then you shouldn’t. And if the cat or dog is jealous or aggressive you shouldn’t either.

But people have been living with pets for centuries, and we do not have a tradition of removing all pets from home when a baby is born. So it can’t be lethally dangerous.

Answer #8

Thanks fr all the answers :) they’ve helped alot.

Answer #9

i agreed. my cousin has been allergic to them since he was baby. now living with us at 7 he has less issues with congestion and coughing and wheezing but he still has to visit her and comes back looking like he’s sick poor thing =(

Answer #10
  • aunt has cats , we don’t ( missing info to make it make more sense haha)
Answer #11

Yup(: as long as the baby does not have an allergic thing, and also as long as the dog or cat isnot violent. Plus, the baby will enjoy thr kitty or doggy. :)

Answer #12

No, I’m sure it would be fine, as long a you know the dog would be good around the baby. and that the cat doesn’t have claws. My sister just had a baby and she lets her cats around the baby, the cats are very protective of the cat and they lick his head and lay by him, it’s soooo cute!

Answer #13

obviously its bad idea…

Answer #14

yeah, the cats and dogs are very calm and dont jump and bark alot.. and ithink the dog is quite protective of the baby so im sure it will be okay.. thanks :)

Answer #15

Well it prob. Isn’t a good idea to leave them alone together. But if there is someone watching then I think it’s fine! :)

Answer #16

yeah i think its a bad idea the baby could get sick if the dog or cat keeps licking the babys face
