Why isn't anything working to help me lose weight?

I’m trying to lose some weight by this summer but nothing I do seems to be working. I’ve cut sweets and soda out of my diet and run at least 5 times a week, but the weight isn’t coming off. If anyone has any tips I would be extremely grateful!

You may not be losing any weight but you may be gaining muscle. Keep running I say and dont skip meals and eat lots of protein. You may not lose weight but you’ll look slimer and tone.

Most athletes understand the importance of drinking fluids, but some don’t understand that drinking too much can be harmful as well. Overhydrating can lead to a dangerous condition known as hyponatremia (low blood sodium). Long-distance runners out on the course for long periods, losing lots of sodium in sweat, are at risk. This condition can lead to nausea, fatigue, vomiting, weakness, sleepiness, changes in sensorium, and, in the most severe instances, seizures, coma, and death. To avoid hyponatremia:

Try not to drink more than you sweat. Include pretzels or a salted bagel in your prerun snack. Favor a sports drink that has some sodium in it, over water, which has none. Propel is a good one, as it is low in calories, but also has electrolytes.

How serious, and disciplined, are you about losing weight? I ask because it sounds like you are doing great with cutting out processed sugars and running, but there’s more to losing weight, and it requires some discipline. You can start with some basic dietary changes like reducing processed foods and including more fruits and vegetables. Fruits are a natural source of energy, unlike processed sugars, that help alkalize and supply nutrients to your body. Next is cut out both alcohol and coffee and drink more water. Then try substituting meat products with vegetarian alternatives.

If you want to shake up the running routine try other physical activities, like cycling or swimming. They are both intense cardiovascular exercises and make you feel great, afterwards.

It may take up to 2 weeks for you to burn a noticeable amount of weight. Just keep eating healthy, excercise and drink plenty of water. :)
