I have OCD mom gets agervated

I unfortantly have ocd. it is horrible. my mom gets so agervated with me over it. like a little while ago, I used a lot of shampoo in my hair because I felt like I had to or something bad was going to happen. she kind of well yelled at me. I tried to tell her that I am sorry but all she said was I do not want to hear any lies. then my brother joins in and started backing her up by saying mean things about me. my mom got on to him for that though. how can I get her to stop geting mad at me over my ocd.

I have mild OCD. It can be life-altering, so I completely understand. I have mine more in terms of routines. I have to use Chapstick before bed. I have to brush my teeth twice, floss once, and Listerine before I sleep or I won’t be able to. Sometimes I have to turn a light switch on and off again just because if I don’t, I think something bad could happen. I make up scenarios in my mind for things like “If I do this, then this will happen” and I actually believe it.

One suggestion I have is sitting your Mom down, explaining how this is in your head, and asking for a therapist. There are ways to try to stop the OCD triggers and feelings by imagery (ie. “picture a stop sign in your head when you think the thoughts.). I actually went on a slight dose of anti-anxiety medications back in high school which really helped. A therapist and possible medication can really help you if you can get your Mom to listen long enough.

Good luck.

Talk to your mom, she needs to understand what you are going trouhg. Sit and talk to her and tell he how you fell about her getting mad at you, you cant help it, once she understands your feeling she will take it better, GOOD LUCK! :)
