I just convinced my dad into letting me have a puppy, because I have wanted one for a long time too…I told him that I wold take it for a walk every day and feed it and take care of it…and then after I told him that I said thhat if I dont do those things…you can take it away from me.I also have been cleaning the house and doing a lot of chores to make sure he knows that I am responsible

If it really means that much to you, you’ll wait out the six months to prove you can be responsible enough. There will always be more than one perfect puppy- I love cats, and I’ve met several I adored and wanted to take home with me!

The other thing you need to think about is what will happen when you leave home? It’s all good and well to say “the puppy will come with me”, but most landlords are not too keen on puppies. They might be okay with a cat, but dogs are generally a “no way” answer. And leaving it at home is not being responsible.

You also need to be prepared to walk this dog daily, clean up after it when it whizzes on the carpet, discipline it when it’s disobedient, etc. In a lot of ways, it’s a fair bit like looking after a child.

Make sure you’re prepared- it’s not just a cute little toy, it’s a living creature.
