How to make my parents less strict?

My parents treat me like im a little kid and I hate it. I have to pay for everyone elses mistakes and its not fair.my sis was on drugs and drank all hte time when she was my age, I never have, she also snuck out in hte middle of the night with guys and got caught all hte time by the cops, I never have, she also failed 3 calsses, I havent. But yet im hte one with all the freaking rules. My curfew is 10:30! Im 14! I do realize that thats not to extreme but it is when they just suddenly drop a bomb on you like that. 5th grade I was allowed to go out with friends and I had to be home by midnight. Im a freshman now and I have to be in by 10:30? Not to mention thats my curfew during the school year to, its summer they should lighten up. I cant have a cell phone and my allowance is ridiculous! I literally get 20 dollars a month. Not even reasonable. I dont get extra money for anything either, if I want to go out to dinner with friends, theyre response “how are you paying for it?’’ and I have to buy all my own clothes. I have none! I literally have on pair of jeans. It would take me 4 months to buy one pair if I got a cheap pair and thats if I dont go anywhere for those four months. Ughh, I swear id rather drop out and have fun then live here in jail.

I agree with sophie becasue they love you and they dont want you to turn out like your sister. I dont want to be mean bt it is the truth. Tell them you feel lke your being treated like a child. Im 15 and I was treated like a child until I talked tomy parents and they let loose…a lot and they let me kinda do whatever I want now but I have my chores adn church every sunday but, if I do the little things then I am aloud to come home at midnight and stuff like that ya know so just talk to your parents anddont be scared to talk to your parents about anyhting inlcuding being treated like an adult. 14 to me is pretty adult but not that much. You should be treated with more respect and even sometimes your mom should take you shopping, for clothes so you dont ahve to rely on yourself for home survival lol. May be ask her one day “ hey mom can me and you go shoppping and ease her into the idea they hey mom tis okat to buy me crap hoe it helps mwah

I’m 14 and my parents are pretty strict but what gets me pissed of is when my step sister visits my dad let’s her do what ever the fk she wants shell stay up till 3am texting guys and I don’t even have a PHONE plus she’s 14 also I get straight a’s and they don’t even know what her grades are because she forges there sig plus she has a tattoo on her inner thigh they don’t know about that one and I get grounded for 2months if I forget to take the trash out on trash days and the only reason my dad is nice to her is so she doesn’t hate him and not visit him

Answer #4

Hunny, my parents are wayy more strict. They never let me or my brother do anything! No allowance, we had to talk them into getting us cell phones and we got stuck with the little ol’ cheap ones. They hardly ever let us hang with our friends. If we spend the night with our friends, we have to be home early in the morning. I mean I’m talking about so early the friends’ parents have to wake me up. And boys can’t come over to my house until I’m out of school.:( And you think your life sucks! Your life is awesome compared to mine.

Answer #5

the reason why your parents are strict in my opinion is they dont want you to turn out like your sister that is why they are being so strict with you, and have set strict rules.Maybe they where to relaxed with your sister and thats why she turned out the way they did so what ever istakes (if any) that your parents have made there trying to keep you from making the same mistakes. Try talking to your parents an tel them that your not going to turn out like your sister becasue you have learnt from her mistakes, act adult about it and they may start looseing up a little bit with you. good luck xx

not to be a stereotype but, as asians, we have strict parents. But my parents is more strict than that. I can’t sleepover, or get my driving license, or date until I’m 18. it’s not fair. all the things I wanna do when I’m 16, I have to wait 2 years more than everyone else. I really need them to be less strict. I can’t even get out of the house for fun more than once a week. I don’t have a social life and playing the piano is all they care about. if I stop playing the piano, they’ll take all my privliges away.

Hey listen up… I dont get paid, im not allowed to give my number to friends, im not allowed out at all and after school I have to be home straight away meaning I have to run to catch the first train home, im expected to have an arranged marriage, I cant hang out with friends, not allowed a boyfriend, if I have a guy friend- they get suspicious and makes sure I dont see them again, and im 14 just like u.

they give me hell…once mum hit me with a metal hanger because I wasnt listening to her…I wasnt even back answering.

everyone else can go anywhere alone, and do everything im not allowed. all they want me to do is get good marks…aka- nerd. thats one thing that hasnt happened yet…funny that I have reached the stage of not caring about anything because I cant do anything. I go all depressed like all the time. I ask nicely for some space and it never works. msn is the only thing im allowed. I have a net boyfriend though.

Wow hunny. Your parents aren’t strict at all compared to mine. I don’t even get allowance. I don’t have texting, have a timer on my laptop where I am only allowed on the Internet one hour per day. I can only hang out with my friends once a month. I don’t have a curfew because I can’t go out on week days at all. They think it’s normal for a kid to do extra math problems over the summer. I had to earn an itouch, cellphone, and laptop by getting all A’s. I can’t wear makeup to school, I can’t wear nail polish. And I can’t have sleepover. They make any play the piano everyday and if ibdont there’s punishment. Do I need to keep going, honey? Didn’t think so. So stop complaining about that wonderful life of yours and start appreciating the things you have. I have all these rules and I didn’t complain untilln insaw how ridiculous your question is. Just start enjoying what you have.

you are ridiculous . I don’t have an allowance, and 20 dollars a month would be great, actually . I’m not allowed to wear make up, my dad comes and picks me up 5-10 minutes after school ends. im a freshman in highschool this year, and I thought highschool would be fun, well it’s really not now . and if I’m late and don’t come outside afterschool in 10 minutes, my dad will do the favour by coming into my school, going through ALL my friends, and searching for me. I don’t have a cell phone, I’m not allowed on the computer except for weekends, but currently I am grounded for however long it takes for me to get my grades up. I’m taking academic everything, and it’s hard for me because I need to be in some applied courses. I’d actually kill to be in your shoes, asian parents really suck. and im the same age as you .
