How to get her to be more healthy.

Okay, so my best friend, she’s over weight. And she hardly drinks water. Doesn’t exercise that often, and eats junk. She cant even drink 1 glass of water in a month, while my other friend and I drink about 8 to 10 glasses a day. She says she hates it because of the taste. Even if she wants to drink it, she has to add sugar. My other friend and I keep on telling her to drink more water. And she says that we can’t force her to do stuff that she doesnt want to. Well, that is true. I would hate it if my friends did that to me, its just that, we dont want her to get dehydrated or sick or anything. We’ve told her that about this over and over and over again. And she has to be stubborn. I mean, water IS important right? If your best friend’s like this, what would you do?

I think the best thing you can do, which it seems like you already are doing, is set a good example for her. If she is around people drinking water and eating healthy foods, eventually she may start to get healthier. Maybe you and your friends could say to her, “Hey so-and-so, we are all going out jogging (to the gym, any exercise). Do you want to come along?” That way you are not forcing her to do anything but she has the option to do it with the people she likes. Plus, you are not saying, “Maybe you should consider running”, but it is something that everyone is doing no matter their weight. As of the water issue…that is pretty serious. Maybe suggest drinking vitamin water or flavored water that doesn’t have lots of sugar or calories. If she is at your house, make sure your house does not have junk food that she can snack on while she is there. Do activities that are more active besides going to the movies. I read this story about a girl who was anorexic and everyone (her parents, teachers, some friends) told her how she needs to eat and bla bla bla. She continued to be anorexic and went to college. Her college roommates (there were two of them) were thin and healthy. Instead of telling her how she needs to eat like everyone else did, they said nothing and treated her like she wasn’t anorexic. The roommates showed the girl what a healthy lifestyle was: they ate healthy foods and exercised. Eventually during that year in college, the anorexic girl started to become more and more normal: eating more as the months went by. I thought that was a really interesting testimony: The girl wanted people to stop telling her she needed to get healthy because in her heart of hearts, I’m sure she already knew that. The same thing might be true about your friend (besides the water issue). Just be a good role model and continue being the wonderful friend that you are. Good luck. Peace :)

well she’s a bit big. And I dont think she’ll want it if she’s not in the mood for it, she’ll find other stuff. Either that, or she skips her meals. I’ve told her to exercise, try to run or jog up and down the stairs, till now, she hasnt. And I’ve taught her some effective exercises, like to tone and stuff, she does it for a whole month, after that she completely stops doing it. She says she wants to loose weight, and I asked her, does she REALLY want to lose weight, and she says yes. But what does she do, nothing. Dont even make an effort to do so. Gahhh I dont knoowww!

Give her fruit juice. It is healthy, too.
