how should I take my mind off this?

ok I found out in 6th grade that my grandfather has ttype 4 cancer in his stomach and now I found out it grew to his lungs and liver and im trying not to cry in front of him because I dont want to see him cry ever again and I have to be brave to my granma and him but im having a hard time because I have to deal with school and him and sports and other stuff and my mom told me I got there more stuff then a regular adult and I was shocked when she saisd that so what should I do to keep my mind off of this stuff?

I think to truly help you you need to have a frank discussion with your mother and grandparents to get everything in the open. You need to discuss your feelings. You need to know that everything is going to be okay. I wish you the best of luck for the future.

First of all, I’m really sorry to hear about your grandpa. Try praying for him. It might do some good. Second, go over to your best friends house - I’m sure they know what’s going on, so they’ll keep your mind off of it. Turn your music up real loud & just dance & move around crazy. Occupy your time. Do your homework. Go to sports practices…

I didn’t understand what your mother said that shocked you…

however, I do not think you should be afraid to talk to them about this, I think it would be better to tell them how you feel, and talk together about what is happening.

I am sure that everyone around you is very sad, and perhaps angry, and certainly confused… but, as a family, it seems discussing it would be better for all around.

You have a right to allow your feelings to be known, and they should be able to help you with them. Let them know how much you care, and how you feel.

find something extremely fun to do. something like a video game maybe. I don’t know. something you know would work.
