How should I distract myself?

My dream is to be a singer, and it’s something I want more than anything. I’m talking like international success, which is why, since I live in the Philippines at the moment, I have to wait til I go to Australia before pursuing it (because I don’t want to be just local). Anyway I’m going there next year to try to live my dream, despite the low percentage of success in that industry is.

So first of all

  • Do you think I’m making the right decision by still trying? Or is it a waste of time?

And secondly

  • I have these huge exams that I have to do well in at the end of the year before I get to go, but I can’t get my mind off the music thing. I’m so distracted by it. How do I stop? It’s all I think about.

And watching other successful singers on TV or on the radio is so painful, because they have exactly what I want. So should I shut myself out from the music world until then? Or what? I don’t know what to do. How do I stop myself from getting distracted?

Thanks in advance.

It couldn’t hurt to sing locally for a little while just to get some experience and have some fun. Why not look for a band? But your exams and studying are still important, it’s good to have a fall back in case singing doesn’t work out. But if you’re passionate about singing then you should pursue it either way.

Prioritize: at present your priority should be studying and doing well on those exams, then - Look inside - if you’re serious…pursue your dream - and if you fail…get right back up !!

I have almost the same problem. I love to sing and sometimes I wonder if I’ll make it anywhere. yea, I do think about it a lot, but its not the most important thing right now, I gues. I just say if God wants you to make it, you’ll know. and those exams should come first, but after that, yea, definitely keep trying.
