How) I want to get a piercing, but my mother won't let me..?

I want to get a piercing, other than ears. I have my left ear pierced. I’ve had it since 7th grade. I got my cartilage pierced but it got infected and I took them out a long time ago. I was thinking about getting my eyebrow pierced or maybe my lip. something like that. but my mom won’t let me. I’m 16. she won’t let me get a piercing until I move out. and it’s not like I’m a bad kid either, I hardly ever get in trouble. I asked to get a piercing before a long time ago and she said no and I couldnt convince her so I left it alone. but now I want to get one again. what do you suggest I do?? :/ and if I were to get a piercing, what do you think I should get?

No, do not just go do it without their permission. Most likely you will just have to take it out and then you would have wasted your money and possibly gotten yourself into trouble.

Explain to her what you are telling us. Sit down and have a mature grown up conversation about why you think you should be allowed to have a piercing. Give her examples to show her you are responsible (If you have good grades, do your chores when you’re supposed to, etc) Go over different options for the piercing as well, maybe she would be okay with your tongue because its hidden, or maybe your eyebrow because your hair can cover it, be open minded. Go over the option of wearing a retainer (a clear or flesh tone piece of jewelry) at school or for family events or let her have a say in the jewelry you pick so she can decide what she believes is acceptable/tasteful.

You should just save the money and get it done. That’s what I did with some of my piercings. I told my parents I knew they’d say no so never asked for their permission, so I did it anyway. I think an eyebrow piercing would look good on you, lip piercings aren’t so nice anymore.
