How does 3 or more LCD monitors work?

Does anyone know how the new 3 monitors or more work with regards to online computer games?

Not sure the correct terminology here, but my baby brother is setting up his computer room next Saturday with 3 massive lcd monitors linked together to play his online games and wondered if it’s any good?

It’s costing my parents and I a fortune so I wanted to know if anyone has this concept at home already set up and does it actually make online gaming more fun for the user?

Will post the photo up when he has the monitors set up next Saturday if the question is unclear.

I use two monitors for work…but, I don’t play computer games - only my PS3, when I have time.

The thing is with computer monitors, you want LCD’s that are all about the same size, else you won’t be able to view it seemlessly when you extend the graphics across the whole set…I can see how it would be a much more immersive experience but unless he’s already using a huge (30 inch plus) high def monitor, then I think that would be the next, best step for it before he jumps into 3 separate screens.

The most I’ve seen in anybody’s personal setup before was six, in a few photos…that seems incredibly excessive to me, but, I always feel like I’m missing something if I don’t use two monitors now…so, it could be that 3 is as good over 2 as 2 is over 1.

Thanks mate… Aiden is already using a 34 inch Nec TV LCD as his computer monitor. He’s getting another two 34 inch LG LCD TV, but not sure if the LGs and Nec monitors will be the exact dimensions thou.

The concept has not hit the Australian market as yet so we had to get the 2 parts; a cable from Apple America and the port from an online store CA (Circuit Assembly) in the USA for the parts he needs to link the 3 monitors together. The new graphic card isn’t an issue as he can get this locally.

my mate has 3 set up with his crossfired 5870s @ 5760x1280 and they look amazing…

the only thing that puts me off at the moment going the same route is the black/grey/silver borders…

ATI call it eyefinity.. god knows what nvidia call it
