How do you develop an idea for a novel?

I have somewhat thought of an idea for a novel…a girl’s parents go on a trip and never some back. 5 years later the girl is invited to go to an academy in new york where she meets 2 students who have gone through similiar situations. Now the 3 of them work together to find out what really happened and discover a world full of secrets…that os a quick summary of my idea but I don’t have all of the ideas such as what actually happened to the girl’s parents. I need help on how to develop my idea so I can actually write a novel. Criticism is welcome.

Do a search for story generators… many of them will give you a general random outline incase you have writers block or are stuck.

I find them corny but bits and pieces can come from each one to make a fabulous story.

^ above is true just remember the more twists the better keeps everyone on edge and makes them keep guessing therefore they want to know and keep reading then they NEED to know lol

Sounds like goosebumps “R.L.Stine”.. I study design, and the why we make it, is by starting with a STORYBOARD, with drawings. Drawings aren’t suppose to be awesome, just to be understanding. Trust me the words will come along!
