How do I tell my mom that her anger affects my moods?

I barely noticed this today, but over the past year, every time my mom gets angry and takes it out on me it really affects how I act towards my friends and I really don’t like dealing with it. How do I tell her this? And most importantly, how do I get her to change that?

Answer #1

You just tell her. Mum, it upsets me when you take out your anger on me. You cannot get someone to change. That is an important lesson you should learn now to save yourself from a lot of future heartache. You cant. Nothing you do can make someone else change. All you can do is change your own behavior. You choose to get upset when she gets upset. So choose differently. Stop getting upset. Stop letting her get to you. She’s not making you get upset. You’re choosing to get upset. And when she gets angry at you, try approaching it differently. Tell her you need some space. Go to your room. Try talking to her calmly instead of getting upset and increasing the emotional energy of the situation.

Answer #2

You need to take the iniciative, and get a time alone with her, that you know shes in a good mood, because if you talk to her in a bad mood then its not going to work. talk to her and let her know whats going on. Take her out for lunch or do something nice for her and tell her in a good way how she makes you feel. Also maybe shes going trhough a lot of stress and she has no one else to vent to, but you even if shes screaming at u. But maybe she needs some pampering from u, or maybe you need to spend a little more time with her. But be nice, and talk to her in a good but serious manner. Good luck!.

Answer #3

Yeah, that happens a lot and we don’t even notice it. Just tell her. next time that she is mad tell her how you feel when she gets moods all started. And if you just don’t want to talk her, then everytime that she get’s mad go for a walk, get out of the inviorment till she cools off and all, so it wont affect you.

GOOD LUCK:)
