How do I take care of my cartilege ring?

I just got my cartilage pierced 3 weeks ago and I’ve been using the ear care antiseptic stuff that the piercing place gave me, but its really drying my whole entire ear out and it’s really itchy… I’ve been trying to put some a&d ointment on it but I don’t thinks it’s working because my ear starts itching and I can’t help but scratch it and the ointment comes right off. can someone please suggest something else I can use that won’t dry my ears out so much? thanks!!

Hi,

The solution they gave you is probably something cheap they got at a discount. They usually stink and usually are composed primarily of alcohol, which dries out your piercing and your skin.

I suggest using Dial antibacterial soap and warm water, 2 times a day. That’s all I’ve ever done for my piercings (including gauged ears, tragus ring, tongue ring and eyebrow ring) and they’ve all been fine.
