Answer #1

Probably the heat cooks out the moisture, and the roots get so hot they don’t function. Would it be possible to put in a raised bed, where the roots could grow deeper to avoid the heat? If it gets too hot, the plants will probably fail anyway. Ask at nearby garden centers for the best variety for your area and how you plan on growing them.

You may have to go for two crops, an early crop and a late maturing crop that won’t fruit until after mid-summer.

Good Luck!!

bimjob is right…you can keep them in a pot or bucket for only a couple of weeks or so…their roots need to grow deep, deep, deep.

They have a huge root system, so plow some land and plant them directly in the sun.

Answer #3

I think that you have to from the main stems cut out all the new shoots, to get nice ones..

But dont take my advice, I live in Spain and all my trys have been terrible

GOOD LUCK

Answer #4

When I plant tomatoes I shade them w/taller plants like corn or okra and they don’t get cooked from the sun.
