How do I get out of this depression?

How do I get out of this depression!?! I’m seeing a therapist and a phyciatrist. I’m on an anti-anxiety, anti-depressant. I’ve been on it for about 3 weeks and was told it would get better, but it’s getting worse. I don’t enjoy anything anymore and I’m really trying to.

I agree that my only experience of depression showed me that I had no control over when it ended. I tried to stay positive, I knew it would end one day, I trusted God that He would end it one day, but other than that, I just had to work my way through it. Do keep talking to your doctor, do keep talking to God! But it will end - you just can’t dictate when.

You just need to quit looking at things downward. Dont look at things like “This sucks” be more like…

“How can I make it better?”

Answer #3

I’m already a Christian so I’ve embraced that power. LOL I’m concerned that I might be bipolar which is commonly misdiagnosed as depression. It is my understanding that bipolar has the opposite reaction to anti-depressants.

hmm there’s not much your therapist can do about the medication, try and get an appointment sooner with your psychiatrist… the meds might take a while to work but they shouldnt be making you feel worse. And we know you’re trying to get better, telling you to “look on the positive side” is probably not very helpful. I know this is probably the medication doing it, but try and fight past it and do things that get you out of the house… Trust me I know when it feels like you have no energy and you CANNOT get up. But do it anyways… Or it will get worse…

I swear to god, if anyone on here says “Embrace the power of Jesus,” I’m-a shoot the bunny.

It really sounds like you’re doing everything possible, and any help or advice you find on here is going to entirely superficial and possibly damaging since no one else knows your situation better than you and your psychiatrist. Be patient and let the drugs do their job. Most antidepressants take many weeks to build up in the system.

Answer #6

Okay all you have to do is tell the doctor about whats going on with the pill. And explain to them how its not making you feel any diffrent then before. Try to hang out with you friends more and talk to them about it because the best people you can actually go to is your friends because they will listen and not tink your crazy or anything else.

Answer #7

I’m at the point that I haven’t been able to really leave my house except for work. I blew off 2 pretty important things last weekend to hang out in my bed. I feel completely disconnected with my boyfriend. I didn’t feel this bad before the meds and I told my therapist when I saw her 2 weeks ago. It has botten worse this past week. I see her again tomorrow and I will tell her, but last time she said to tell the Pyschiatrist, which I don’t see for another week and a half.
