You need to get another doctor if he doesn’t know how to properly advise you. My son went through something similar when he was a month old, at the hospital they tried sticking a tube down his throat, the whole ordeal was just horrible!! Eventually another doctor visited for a consultation and he realised that I wasn’t producing enough breastmilk although my son was sucking he just wasn’t getting enough. So I started pumping my milk and mixing it with different formulas and I found one my son would tolerate. He’s now 17months and is really healthy and a little chubby. Don’t give up on breastmilk and you can introdue a little bit of brown sugar with the formula you mix up, the sugar helps them to gain weight.

At that age, I remember being very concerned about the same issue (weight gain, learning, are they progressing normally, etc). The doctor when you visit can give you all those stats and ensure you’re on the right track, feeding properly, introducing new foods, etc, etc.

IF you doctor is worried, they should have told you what to do about it…as even though this is my site, I’d trust a doctor’s advice they gave me, personally, after an in person visit over what any website had to say about the issue, irregardless of the experience of the parents there.

Answer #4

have him drink a lot of milk that helps a lot my baby sis was drinking to much and she started to get big and the doc said to lay her off it but yah or how about introducing soft table foods and finger foods that are safe and fun

Answer #5

I think just keep giving him milk, and baby food. I know it isn’t much help, but thats what we had to do, and it worked. I hope you the best.

Answer #7

It is best to talk to your doctor about it. If he is worried, you can ask him what are his recommended diet to help your child gain weight. Your doctor knows your child case, so for sure he can give you a professional advice basing on your baby’s medical record.

Just make sure to keep track of your child’s weight, so if there is any drastic changes, you should immediately consult the doctor for further advice.
