How can we make India strong?what are the obstacles?

India is a rising power. Everyone is praising China’s economic gains, but India’s are more impressive because the country has used a different model for growth than most Asian countries (focusing on creating high tech, high skill service jobs instead of producing cheap exports to flood world markets).

There are a lot of obstacles, though. The country has not made improvements to its roads, ports, railroads, and airports in years, sometimes decades. The key to a modern economy is modern infrastructure, and most of India still lacks it. While India is becoming a high tech producer, the use of business technology in the Indian economy still isn’t that impressive. India, like China, still has a lot of state owned enterprises and backward labor laws (although the US seems to be heading in this direction recently). Also, while Americans are always shocked at our national debt, India’s is enormous…the external public debt alone is 20% of the GDP. That’s not good.
