How can I lose weight the healthy way?

Hello, I’m 16 years old, 5 foot 6 and 181.1 pounds. I know I way over weight and I want to lose weight the healthy way. I look at myself in the mirror and I don’t look particularly fat, except for my tights and a bit of belly fat. I’ve suffered from eating disorders before but now I’m trying to be healthy, what should I do?

I don’t even cook my own food, my parents do. And they like rich, Hispanic foods that make you gain weight. If I don’t eat dinner, then I’m really hungry and I end up bingeing.

Welcome to Fun Advice!~

Try starting by eating a good breakfast everyday. This jump-starts your metabolism and helps your body start burning calories. Also, drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water daily, one before each meal (except breakfast) and before snacks. That will help curb your appetite.

How to LOSE weight?

First, determine from the information below, what your weight should be. Then set yourself goals of a week, 2 weeks, a month, 3 months, 6 months and a year. As you see yourself meeting your goals it becomes easier. Remember, you didn’t gain your weight overnight so don’t expect to lose if overnight. Plus, weight lost slowly is more likely to stay off than weight lost in a hurry.

“How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?”

One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it’s not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

“What should a minimum calorie intake be?”

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

Answer #3

First off, try suggesting to your parents to make healthier food or buy you food that you can eat separately. Like layashea said, you need to exercise. Make sure you exercise at least 3-4 times a week. You can do different things, like go on walks, running, bike riding, swimming, jumping on a trampoline, dancing-basically anything. It’s good to swich it up because you won’t get bored and it makes it more fun :)
