Housetraining Puppy

I am at my whit’s end, I have tried everything to get my puppy house broken and nothing has worked,I have never had any problem training but this puppy is impossible HELP Karen

All I can tell you is that housetraining is pretty much the same for any and all dogs…some just take longer (my sister spent 4 months housetraining her Pug enough to be trusted inside)…The key to it is VIGILANCE…and a crate…Don’t take your eyes off the puppy so you can catch him BEFORE he goes, then swoop him up and take him outside…and stay with him. Praise him like there’s no tomorrow. Do not punish him, if he has an accident inside…just set him outside while you clean up.

I learned from this…”when the puppy goes on the floor, roll up a newspaper and slap yourself in the head, saying…”I should have watched the dog”…repeat 20 times.

Housetraining is THE MOST intensive training (for YOU), that you’ll ever have to do with your pup…it’s almost like you have to put everything else on the back burner, and focus on that puppy. It’s a pain…but OH SO WORTH IT!

Right on phrannie. I love the rolled up newspaper. It just gets kind of messy sometimes, hitting myself over the head with poopy newpaper.;)

Answer #3

what kind of dog is it? some dogs breeds are more difficult than others. if it wont go outside, maybe paper-training is your next best option. also, you could try taking the puppy to classes with professionals who can help you with strategies and ideas. good luck!

Im kinda of having the same problem with the puppy training.I trained 2 boxers and this puppy that I have is very smart he learned his name in 3 days after getting him but when it come to training he is good for a few days then, some days he pees in the floor. I get mad sometimes but, I dont strike him but, I say his name loudly and say,NO.

I have done something that has been working, I have this training aid called best behavior pet training aid by Nature’s Miracle, Every time Babet started to squat or went wheir she shouldnt go, I would get to her and tell her NO and put my finger in her mouth with some of that training aid on it,she sure doesen’t like the taste, she makes a boo boo every once in a while too but they are few and farrr between.
