Who can tell me more about Hindu gods?

I have 2 good friends expecting a baby together in a few months. The man is Indian, Hindu. I want to do a painting for them, for the baby when she’s born, something related to the Hindu religion. I want it to represent protection of the baby etc. I’ve done a painting for him before of Ganesh so it cannot be Ganesh. But any suggestions / stories of gods / anything related to anything that could help would be much appreciated! I just don’t know enough about the Gods in Hinduism and stuff to know what to do. I’m doing some research on google right now but yeah any help would be great! Thanks!

Well shoot I was going to say Ganesh, Ganesh holds a special place in my heart…and on my back haha. Look into Shashti. But there are millions and millions of gods and goddesses so you’ll no matter what be able to find the perfect one =)

I sent you a fun mail about the Gayatri mantra. It’s not a god but I can’t think of one so yeah. You really should include the words of Gayatri mantra in your painting. My aunt had the words of Gayatri mantra painted into her son’s room. :) I think they’ll be grateful because Gayatri mantra holds a great importance in our religion. you shoould give something related to ganesh…. in india hindu’s worship ganesh before any other god..if it’s a boy the you could do something related to lord krishna..or you can give a figure of a god or an elephant.. but on the other side traditionally in India gifts are not given to the baby but the gifts are given to the mother… i dont know why but people in india believe that you should not gift clothing to newborns…

But if you want to paint a God, I would choose Krishna as baby, Kahna (since you have already done Ganesha - who is my favorite)
