Help me reach my goal of losing 7-10 inches by September

Hey, I’m pretty uncomfortable about my weight - my waist, in particular. I’m 13 years old, roughly 5’4 inches tall, I’d like to lose 7-10 inches off of my waist by next September. It’s also possible that I grow 5-6 inches this summer, so maybe even less weight.

I’m mostly trying to lose about 1-2 pounds a week throughout the summer. I feel that I exercise a decent amount, 30+ minutes of cardio a day and 15 minutes of weightlifting every other day, however I also feel that I’m not eating well. I eat a lot of carbs and bread; mostly whole grain bagels, cereal, cereal bars, whole grain tortilla wraps, and sandwiches.

I also don’t eat the best for dinner or lunch. My lunches and dinners usually consist of either a whole grain tortilla wrap with either roast beef or lean cut ham and turkey, a small amount of cheese, and some corn, onion, and/or lettuce, or a sandwich that consists of whatever type of meat my mother prepared for dinner and some lettuce.

I feel that I need more vegetables, less carbs, and overall better dinners and lunches. It’s very difficult for me to eat plain vegetables(besides in a salad), and I detest steamed vegetables. So, does anyone have any suggestions for what I could eat, or what I should fix? Are there any other exercises that I could do? Will I be able to achieve my goal by September? Thanks in advance.

“How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?”

One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it’s not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

My guess is that you should weigh between 100 and 115 pounds for your height and age. You didn’t state your weight. Not stating your weight makes it difficult to estimate how much weight you should try to “safely” lose over the next 16 weeks.

If you are excessively overweight then you might try reducing your carb intake and increasing both your amount of exercise and your amount of body-building workouts. BUT, don’t try to starve yourself. A slow weight-loss program over a longer period of time will be more beneficial and long lasting.
