What about trying tea tree oil shampoo? You can get it at health stores etc. Also maybe discuss the problem with your pharmacist. Washing your hair too often with a variety of chemicals may in some cases worsen dandruff and it could be the issue in your case.

Oh and here is an interesting article for you to read. Not getting enough nutrition in can worsen dandruff.

Don’t use Head and Shoulders, or Pantene. Head and Shoulders works by washing out ALL of your natural oils on your head. Your body NEEDS oils on your head to stimulate hair growth. When the oils are all washed off, your body will go into over-drive, creating more and more oil- of which you will just keep washing off. For the period that you use Head and Shoulders, you will probably notice a dry scalp, and although you won’t have as much dandruff as you did, as soon as you stop using the shampoo, your head will still be making 3x as much oil as it needs to and you will end up with 3x as much dandruff as you had in the first place. Pantene shampoo is essentially silicone in a bottle. True story: My colleague was working on a client (I’m a hairdresser) and she put in 10 or so foils and set the timer for the appropriate time. After 2-3 minutes the client’s head was burning and close to catching on fire! Purely because she had been using Pantene shampoo for years and her hair was now pretty much just silicone (the bleach and silicone created a chemical reaction). Tresemme is just as bad.

I’d suggest to you a mint based shampoo, as mint will help get rid of dandruff. Also, before you wash your hair, massage your head for 10 minutes, brush your hair, and wait a further 5 minutes before washing it. This helps by stimulating the nerves in your scalp, creating oil production from the sebaceous glands, washing away excess oil. When you brush your hair, you’ll be dislodging the extra oil, hopefully with some of the dandruff. Then you wash it away.

It may cost a bit more, but it will be truly beneficial to buy a shampoo from your local hairdressers. Expensive shampoo is very concentrated, so instead of using a big squirt like I imagine you are using now, you will only be needing the size of your thumb nails put together. It will cost more, but it will last longer.

Also, try and wash your hair every 2-3 days, as opposed to every day. Your hair may feel a bit oily at first but it will get used to it, and stop producing as much oil. It’s the overproduction of oil that mostly cause dandruff.

Hope I helped!
