I think our diets have a big fatter in our life span. I am very conscious of the foods and beverages I consume. In the US Obesity is one of the major factors to illness even having a major effect on young teens. There is no way that the human body was meant to care this much weight. I think the cause of this is from really available processed foods and the life style we live now. When I was a kid we only got 3 channels on the TV and I was the remote, now I know I have around 300 channels and you can operate everything from your couch. I have lived in third world countries in the past and found the people in these country seemed to be healthier have more energy and far more active than people in the US. Also I found it was hard to eat unhealthy in these parts of the world, most of the food I received in these places was natural and fresh.
Yes and no. While our water and air is continuing to be more and more dangerous, we'll continue to have new technologies to clean and purify our environment, although at some point I believe it will be too late and the damage to our planet will have been done. We live longer now than ever because of better medicine and technology, and it's assumable that we will continue to live longer as medical science continues to progress. Back in the day people died from things that are preventable now, but at anytime we can die from random things, so there's really no way to guarantee a long life at any time period whether we drink "poison" and breathe polluted air nowadays or not. It's best to just dream as if you'll live forever and live as if you'll die today, or however that goes. :)
