is it okay for a guy to nit pick at his girlfriends clothes all the time?

mine will get angry if i dnt wear an undershirt, even if i dont need one, he’s always telling me to pull my shirt up and stuff like that and hes making me push away from him, do i deserve to be treated like this?

Answer #1

No…that’s just petty, childish and hurtful behaviour. A girl’s clothing doesn’t reflect her personality, so a guy needs to know where to draw the line. Is he with you just for the way you dress?

Answer #2

no we’ve been together for almost 2 years, hes been doing it for a ling time and im just sick of it. and we have talks about it so much. i dont wnna lose him but i dont think i can handle it anymore

Answer #3

If you lose him over something so insignificant as your clothing, then he obviously has not matured to your level yet.

Answer #4

oh i definitely know that much lol, but he is alot more mature than most guys, im the 2nd person to ever date him so idk if thats a cause. he does it with other things to, he never wants me to go anywhere alone like on a wlk or something, hes not letting me be independant and thats how i was raised

Answer #5

nooooo but its ok for a girl to do it

Answer #6

That’s not called nitpicking. It’s called controlling behavior. One of the signs of someone who could turn abusive. He’s not being fussy, he’s not being protective, and you’re not being overly independent. He simply wants to control you. That works for some people, you decide whether you want to put up with it. Because it will not change, and in most cases it just gets worse. You want to deal with this for the next 50 years?

Answer #7

no. tell him to quit it or you’ll quit him.

Answer #8

not rly :/ he thinks that everyone else in the world is out to stare down my shirt and crap like that, and most ppl are respectful enough, and theres nothing to see anyway

Answer #9

No it’s not okay….it’s a beginner’s step in attempting to control you….don’t give in to his petty demands.

p

Answer #10

i think it could possibly turn into abuse if it keeps up long enough…like maybe hes just being over protective and doesnt want anybody staring at you or in the case with not letting you out alone, he doesnt want anything to happen to you….but like i said, it could turn in to control freak abuse!!!

Answer #11

I repeat, it’s about control. Most guys are not obsessing about whether other people are staring at their girlfriend’s chest. Now, I’m not going to completely blame him for this. You are putting up with the behavior. So stop. Stop allowing him to tell you what to do. Bottom line is, you can wear whatever you want. You can walk around in a bikini if you choose. That is your choice. And he needs to respect you and your choices.

Answer #12

tell him you need your space. that you are your own person; and you will do whatever, wear whatever, and go wherever you like. It’s not his choice. tell him to respect you and yourself, or to get packing. You’ve been together for a long time, but he needs to realise that he doesnt posess you- you dont wan that do you?
