Do you have ideas on how to get dates?

I hate the way I look and I always have. right now im trying to find someone to be with. I hate feeling alone. I dont want to be a shove off. I think that several people are cute but I, like Beethoven, have bad luck with that. Every time I start to fall for someone then I find out they are taken by someone that I feel is prettier than me. Recently, I have found someone that I like and I found out that he likes me back, but he has a boyfriend which hurts me. I am possessive sometimes even if I dont enforce it. Im the kind of person that doesnt want to share my boyfriend with another signifcant other. I have tried being myself. I have tried being flirty…which just got me flirtedw ith and my heart broken because nobody actually wanted to go out with me. Do you have any ideas?

I know how you feel, and can sympethize. Until fairly recently, I was in the same position, though I wasn’t being overly active in trying to find someone to be with because I wasn’t sure how I should go about it. But I didn’t like the way I looked, didn’t like feeling alone and unwanted - the last relationship I had had with a girl was nearly 5 years ago. All the girls I liked already had boyfriends or partners, which made things worse because it felt like I was being left behind in this world. Nothing I did, when I tried, was helping me to get a girlfriend. In many ways, I sort of gave up…

Then, out of the blue, I met this girl and a friends party. I’d actually met her at the same friend’s christmas party the year before, but this time we really clicked and we spent most of our time at the party talking and finding out we had a lot in common. The following week, we met up for lunch, and ended up having a great time together. Before we knew it, we were meeting up with each other almost every day, having an awesome time. And things developed from there. Not only did she like me for who I was, but also what I looked like, and we clicked like no one else I have ever met. It was hard to believe someone like her was actually interested in someone like me, but sure enough she was… and it was the best thing ever.

Unfortunately, the situation was a bit complicated, and it didn’t work out for us. But it did prove something to me - despite what I may have thought, someone did in fact like me for me, and not only that but liked me enough to try and pursue me, not wait around for me to try and pursue her. It also showed me that its much better to let relationships happen naturally and organically, rather than try and have a relationship for the sake of having one, because when they just happen, its much better than if its contrived. I’m sure when you least expect it someone will come along and rock your world… and you will no longer not like the way you look, no longer hate being alone, and no longer doubt yourself. I just hope that it works out for you, unlike what happened for me.

So don’t be sad that you’re lonely and not having any luck with guys… there is a saying, “Good things come to those who wait”. In my experience, it is totally true.
