Do you have the same friends after high school?

Like I mean when you graduate and go to another university. Or do u usually get to busy and make new ones? Opinions or experiences, either are fine :)

Answer #1

Well in my opinion, I think that if you’re REALLY good friends with someone through Highschool you’ll be friends forever. Sticking together through highschool is the ultimate friendship test. :3

Answer #2

I think that if you and your friends got along all years (either 3 or 4, depending on the grades your high school has) of high school & you guys remained friends all the way, then you guys would probably still be friends, no matter how far away you guys may be for university. Although some say you’ll grow farther apart, I think true friendship is inseparable, & no matter how far apart, you guys can still continue being friends. You can also make new friends in your university while continue being friends with the people from your high school! I’m only halfway done with high school, but that’s just my opinion.(:

I don’t have any friends form high school now aside from my husband. I’m not a big social networker, so i didn’t stay in touch that way. Phone calls became more distant, and we all just drifted. Things change, you move on, and you start to meet new people. It’s life.

In time, you only see the people from those times as memories. It’s not sad though, really. It’s actually really freeing, like you’re stepping into adulthood full force. If you have a friend that you’ve known all your life, yes, he or she may stick around. Otherwise, it’s all a matter of what you want to do.

Either way, you won’t regret it. You are simply forging a path for the rest of your life. It’s not as bad as it sounds by any means.

Answer #4

Unfortunately, when you grow up, it’s really rare to still remain friends with the people you went to high school with. It’s less about getting too busy, and more about the fact that when you arent interacting with a person on a continuous basis, you end up leading your separate lives and that close connection tends not to stay. I mean it’s a nice concept, friends forever, but just like dating in high school doesnt have the greatest odds of surviving past high school, friendships that last are rare. Having said that, my best friend and I have managed to stay friends despite several moves across continents, countries and thousands of miles separating us. It happens. But I dont know too many people my age who still have friends from high school

Answer #5

Well, I haven’t finished high school yet, but all of my friends keep in touch a lot and we’re even closer now! We all went to different high schools. My best friend of 11 years is still my best friend. My mom still has tons of friends from her college years. Same for my dad.

Answer #6

It’s a little different in your college years. People tend to stay more in touch with people at that point, I think because you’re adults at that point and headed in the same sort of direction.

Answer #7

Yeah, probably. My brother still keeps in touch with his friend though. I don’t know. I think it all depends on the situation you’re in.

Answer #8

I don’t have any from highschool, but my best friend was a freshman in college with me and my roommate….so there’s only a few months difference between those I knew in high school, and my best friend now. We’ve been close now for 42 years.

Answer #9

True friends, will always be friends, even if you haven’t talked or seen each other in years!

Answer #10

Well, I stopped going to school in 10th grade, (went to homeschooling) so it’s been about 4 years since high school, and I’m still friends with my best friend (since 6th grade) and about 10 others… we aren’t as close as we used to be, of course. Most are busy with jobs, school, boyfriends/girlfriends, kids, etc.. but we’re pretty cool. It’s not bad.

Answer #11

I still remain in contact with my friends from high school. Most of them have moved away, but thanks to facebook and phone calls, we still remain in contact. Of course sometimes I go visit them, they often come home to visit and its great!! One of them still lives here, and we hang out nearly every day.

I actually still have a couple of friends from elementary school that I still hang out with and talk to on a regular basis. I don’t have many close friends, so once I make friends I tend not to let them go… I truly cherish and appreciate friendships.

It gets a little harder as you get older though. Friends start getting married and having children, working…..growing up X( Its still nice to keep in contact though!

Answer #12

I just finished my first year of college and honestly I only hang out with one of my friends from high school. Everyone kind of went their own way. The only reason that I still keep in contact with my friend is mostly because her school is 15 minutes away from mine and we were very close friends in high school. Other than her, all of my friends have drifted away but surprisingly, I’m not very sad about it. I have met many great people in college that I have a lot in common with. Of course now that summer started all of my friends came back home, so we’ll see what happens this summer…

Answer #13

if u guys live in a small town and dont move anywhere after high school you most likely will be

Answer #14

i think… that maybe having the same friends after high school is extremely hard… but it’s not impossible. sure people can keep in contact and contacts are so easily lost. or at least when i was in middle school they were… but the internet can always help you find your way back to friends! ;)

i’m in high school right now and a really good old friend from elementary/grade school found me again. imagine my excitement!

long advice, short. :P it really depends on the friend.
