Is it bad if my friend's dog ate a piece of a chocolate bar?

I heard chocolate kills dogs and I dunno exactly what to tell her D:

Answer #1

One piece of chocolate won’t kill him. Might make his tummy upset though.

Answer #2

I don’t think it will kill the dog unless it eats a LOT of chocolate. If you notice any weird signs that he’s sick, then take the dog to the vet immediately. It should be fine tho:)

Answer #3

I don’t think a piece of chocolate will hurt him.

Answer #4

it wont i give my dog chocolate ice cream and brownies and all… it will kill him if u give alot i just give small bites not alot. i dont give it when his tummy is upset. he will be fine you dont need to worry :P

Answer #5

Chocolate’s harmful effects are that it causes the dog’s system to speed up their heart. Small amounts of it are mostly harmless to a healthy dog, and DARK chocolate has more of the offending chemical than does milk chocolate. (Too much speeding up or an iffy heart can lead to heart attack.)

It is best to avoid any chocolate though because dogs DO like it and if you give them some they will search it out.

As a side note, they also like anti-freeze (which is a poison) because it tastes sweet to dogs.

Answer #6

yes and no. The dog can get sick from it and it may not.

Answer #7

“Might make his tummy upset though.” Which is enough reason to never give chocolate to a dog. “One piece of chocolate won’t kill him.” Is right but so wrong.

IMO

Answer #8

It is known that giving cholocate to dogs will give them diarrhiea (dont know how to spell that word). I think its because its bad for their stomach,

Answer #9

if it was only a little than know if it was an entire dark chocolate bar then yes as long as the dog does not get huge amounts, and you do not give it to him on purpose it should be fine. My dog got an entire german chocolate cake and is just fine so your friends dog will live to tell the story just DO NOT! let it happen again.amounts
