Friend finding tips

How do my boyfriend (of 2 years) find a better class of friends? not to sound snobbish but we both grew up on the streets as addicts and high school drop outs. but in the last few years we have sobered up (I have almost 6 years and he’s at about 3) and we take our soberity very serriously. neither one of us drink or even like drunk people. so bars are out. we have 2 full time kids and one weekend warrior. so going OUT on weekends is tough. But most of the people we know are our age 30’s but still live on the streets, we don’t let any of them know where we live so our house doesn’t become a “squat” aka crash pad. We are just looking for like minded adults - church is out - god stays out of our house we stay out of his. it is difficult to relate to people who don’t have a somwhat simular background. but AA is out cause it just makes me want to drink. I went on the social networking sites besides you mostly get people trying to hook up and I don’t have all day to establish online relationships. So where can we go as a couple to meet people not interested in casual encunters?
