The yard is nothing but rock, hardly any soil, the coast is hours away, so where did these fossils come from?
Well, the land masses have shifted since the early days of earth. It might be that you live in a place that used to be the ocean bed some hundred million years ago. Seashells existed since long before the dinosaurs. So your fossils could be 400 million years old. The earths landmasses were completely different back then. Yeah.. I know not everybody believes it, thats why I said "SOME people believe it came from the great flood back in the bible days." and not "It came from the great flood!" That may be what I believe but its not what everybody beleives so I have to respect that :) And I have and always will take bible stories literally untill someone proves them wrong :D
Lol... spongebob. But anyways.. I know what you mean. I have friends that live NOWHERE near any water and have found little fish fossils. Some people believe it came from the great flood back in the bible days. But it could have just been that years ago your yard was a pond or something :)
I don't mean to be rude Katie, but the great flood is a legend of old religious scripture, not a history fact. I'd stick to science books to explain a phenomenon like that one. Don't take bible stories literally.
It could be that where you're living now was a prehistoric lake or inland sea.
They are perfectly intact little seashells like gary has in spongebob.
Are you sure that they are fossils?
