I'm not saying more males should be graduating then girls but its getting pretty low. My mom is a social worker and I was putting up papers for here and I saw the most recent statistics. More girls are going off to college and getting Edcauted, and also why dont females getting equal pay. Why can't both genders be equal and successful?
I've wondered the same thing myself. Why do more women go to college and why to more of the women who go to college graduate than men? I don't know but I have a few guesses. I think the problem starts in grade school. Kindergarten used to be largely social for kids to get used to going to school and being away from home for a few hours. Now Kindergarten teaches what used to be saved for 1st grade. Most 5 year old girls are mature enough to do this work while most boys aren't. Most boys start their education being asked to do things they aren't capable of doing yet. Falling behind is bad enough but doing poorly makes boys see school as something they aren't good at so they look to other things to build their self-esteem. Girls are somewhat better at delayed gratification. Girls are more likely to see staying home and studying as giving a bigger payoff in the future than getting to see their friends now. Boys are more likely to choose the short term benefit of seeing their friends than the potential payoff later. In our society womanhood is something that happens to girls but manhood is something boys have to achieve. Boys are seen as manly by being good at sports or to hold their own in playground fights or roughhousing. Succeeding at academics does not contribute to a view of boys being manly.
I believe it's because at that age, females tend to be more mature and therefore put more thought into their futures than males. In highschool, from what I remember, while both females and males loved partying and having a good time, in general, the females continued to try in school thinking of what they were going to do after high school while the males were preoccupied with partying and having a good time.
I think more females are completing school and going to University because they want that change. They want to prove they can work as hard as men, if not harder. These days women have more ambition to be successful which is great.
Simple, Guy's "think" they know everything already, and women realize there is still more out there to learn.
Girls are more into books and numbers :)
