Why does the familyradio billboard in Texas say that the world will end May, 2011?

I’m pretty sure most doomsday nutballs say that the world is ending Next year…but for some reason, this particular group of wackjobs have purchased a billboard claiming it’s this year. Is there a biblical rationale to this statement…OR is it just plain old capitalism with the fear kicker?

Answer #1

Maybe the Texas nutbars figured 2012 sounds just a little bit more impressive, seeing as it actually IS 2011. No one cares about 2012. Thats ages away.

Answer #2

opps, meant 2011 sounds more impressive.

There was actually a massive group here in DC preaching the same thing last weekend. I think they said that it is supposed to happen on the 21st of May. Apparently there is a man who has somehow calculated the date of the rapture by reading the bible. I’m not sure what the group called themselves because I was too busy trying to escape from the conversation. A few days after my run in with them, a local radio station began speaking about the same group of people. The host got trapped in a conversation much like I did, and wound up googling the group out of curiosity. He found out that their numbers are pretty impressive, and they do indeed buy billboards and also have radio shows! Interestingly enough the host also stated that the guy that heads this movement calculated the rapture once before in the 90s. When it didn’t happen, he claimed it was simply a miscalculation and later stated that it would happen in May 2011. Totally sounds like a ploy to get massive amounts of money through donations…….I think I’ll start an occult….I have some student loans I need to pay off!

I have heard this. Something to do with 2012, like preemptive event. Who knows what will really happen when the solar system passes through the galactic plain. Logically, something very well could take place considering the forces in place. There is a reason Galaxies are flat plates. And it is thought that there is a massive gravitational force at that point. And it would make a whole lot of sense that the forces would reverse once we pass through it. It is all fascinating. The science is there, but the exact answers are unknown.

Family Radio is big on Shortwave radio. And the old timer that hosts most of their shows is pretty serious about what he says. I am not going to worry about it. I am just going to make sure today, and each day, is my best day.

Answer #5

look society today is mostly “what can we make you fear so that you can believe in us?” that’s all society is based on, it’s reached such a high point. In the end no one has logic any longer and intelligence is sort of like a curse. Now it’s all about being the most popular kid in school. in the end i guess i should point out that the world is already ending and it’d be sad for it to end on the month of my birthday, but at the same time that means NO FINALS which means BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!! hahahahahahahaha

Answer #6

Me too, what a load of BS…

Answer #7

Answer #11

Some feel that we are able to know and have presented some interesting evidence of it. Ironic that it is the very people people this conversation is about.

A fellow I met, a psychic, told me in May and June of this year, 2011, would be the lowest point in the depression. It would be hard for everyone. Prices of all types would be very high, gas prices would be very high, fool in all types would be scarce. The most valuable commodity would be food. Another source told me, because of this shortage, there would be riots and the bringing about marital law.

Answer #13

i dont believe it. the world was supposed to end like 50 times before now. haha its not ending in may and its not ending in 2012. people just make this stuff up for attention.

Famly raido is out of Califorina near San Francisco and sre heard around the world. I have lisstened to them on and off for years. I like the music and some of their other programs. Harold Kamphy (sp?)is the manager and is a brilant business man who has done a lot for the network. He fancies himself as a bible teacher. A year or two ago he thought that he found a way to mathamticaly figure out when Jesus is to return. It is sad becuse the quickest way to be labled a nut is to make that predection. I would listen to what I liked and turned him off when ever he came on.
