Who thinks that eventually we will only have electric cars?

I dont think it will happen too soon, they have tried this with many companies to just go hybird & see things run, but as you may or may not have heard now they are saying it causes cancer & should be taken off the market! We may be advanced & have all the latest technology but when it comes to cars, no matter how bad the gas may be to the environment, it’s still not causing cancer to those that use it! There is a reason that they havent gotten rid of reg cars that run on gas & have since they first created it…I think throughout the years with many tests & studies all came out with the same conclusion…either use gas and suffer pollution or create hybirds on electric and then kill millions of people due to cancer! I dont know what may be worse! It’s a loooooose looooooooose situation in my opinion. But hey that is just me.

Current emission standards for cars are strict enough that very little pollution comes from their tailpipe. We will gradually move away from gasoline as it becomes more expensive and other energy sources become more competitive.

For a lot of commuters, electric cars are already economical. The electricity to recharge the batteries would cost less than the gasoline for the commute. Electric cars also require little maintenance compared to internal combustion automobiles.

I do think it would be good for the environment and our national security to encourage less gasoline use with additional gasoline taxes used to subsidize alternative energy sources and make them competitive.

In the near future plug-in hybrids will probably get popular. For your day-to-day tasks it will run entirely on electricity and only use gasoline when traveling beyond the range of its batteries. Some Prius owners have already converted their cars to plug-in hybrids and the upcoming Chevrrlet Volt will be a plug-in hybrid.

The Nissan Leaf will be an entirely electric car with a range of 100 miles and recharges overnight. This is enough range for the vast majority of drivers the vast majority of the time. Will drivers be willing to buy a car that is only for local use? I don’t think many will. I think the plug-in hybrids like the Volt will be more popular.

I heard that there’s already a car powered by water but their not commercializing it yet and its probably because oil/gas is one of the biggest commodities some of the big and rich countries market. My weird theory is, once all the oil’s natural resources are exhausted, they might consider other means of power source. It might be in a near future. Who knows? (^^,)

eventually we will run out of oil so petrol cars are slowly, very slowly becoming extinct.

Cars using something other than petroleum based fuel is inevitable.
