I'm used to eating meats and breads but recently have been trying to eat better. I never feel full though after eating a salad or a few pieces of fruit, no matterhow much of the salad or fruit I eat.
Especially legumes, more than grains (though some grain is ok, too). Also add your favorite nuts and seeds. Use canned garbanzos to make your own hummus: Blend the beans with a couple handfuls of raw sesame seeds and add lemon juice to thin it to the right consistency. But Janice, how much is "no matter how much"? Are you eating, say, a pound or so of salad every day?
You need some more complex carbs and protein to make a meal "stick to your ribs." Why not add some healthy whole grains and legumes to the mix? Brown rice, barley, lentils, millet, quinoa, etc. Kidney or garbanzo beans are a nice addition to salads that make them more satisfying. Whole grain side dishes can also be good.
Whatever you eat, drinking water with it or before it will help you become fuller, faster. Also, if you take your time it should fill you up easier.
Walnuts and flax or chia seeds are best for Omega 3 oils. But it's best to eat a variety of nuts and seeds, if you like a lot of different kinds.
Thanks! I'm not really on a diet just want to eat healthier or a bit, do you know what sort of nuts are best?
Yep, that would be a good addition. It usually has some fat but it is the healthy kind of fat.
and to fruit salads you can add yougurt(plain fat free if you on a diet) and some nuts.
I was wondering does something like hummus work as well?
you can eat a larger amount of fruits, veg and salad
