Why do earthquakes happen regularly now?

is it because when human beings cannot solve over population , earth takes its own action here?

Answer #1

Earthquakes have always been pretty common in terms of frequency, they’re just gaining more attention due to the severity of the earthquakes in Chile and Haiti.

Looking at the statistics, magnitude and frequency are still relatively the same (millions per year). It’s just the technology we’ve developed is better capable of detecting these earthquakes. In the early 1930’s, we only had about 300 or so seismograph stations in the world. Now we have about 4,000. The USGS maintains that on average we can expect about 18 major earthquakes (that’s considered 7.0-7.9 on the scale) and one 8.0 or higher earthquake a year.

People aren’t causing the earthquakes, rather, the increasing population size is just putting more people in harm’s way during these earthquakes. Not to mention, earthquakes are finding their way into media outlets these days because our global communication is much more technologically advanced than it was a few decades ago; when natural disasters happen today, we all know about it even though these natural disasters have always happened.

Some places are prone to earthquakes as it happens very regularly over there. Yes, population is one major problem all over the world which has not been addressed properly

Answer #3

Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don’t just slide smoothly; the rocks catch on each other. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. After a while, the rocks break because of all the pressure that’s built up. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs. During the earthquake and afterward, the plates or blocks of rock start moving, and they continue to move until they get stuck again. The spot underground where the rock breaks is called the focus of the earthquake. The place right above the focus (on top of the ground) is called the epicenter of the earthquake.

Answer #4

Do you ever bother to read statistics before making ludicrous claims? Who says there are more earthquakes now? It really would spare me a severe headache. It would also help if you didnt connect two things that had no connections. Unless you believe rocks and the ground have magical powers, no, i dont think earthquakes are the result of the earth fighting back. Diseases, yes. When we overcrowd, we tend to end up with more diseases. But earthquakes? Seriously? And yes, overpopulation hasnt been addressed. So what. Neither has education or illiteracy or destruction of the environment. Perhaps the earth is fighting back because we can’t read or we’re cutting down trees.
