Does it still take up power?

If I have my laptop charger plugged into the wall, but not plugged into my laptop, does this still take up power?

Answer #1

Steph, touch it. If it is warm at all, it is using energy. If it is cold, any energy it uses is minuscule. (Of course for peace in the household, sometimes we do things that don’t make sense.) Good Luck!!

Answer #2

Thank you - my parents keep annoying me to unplug it and I’m like “why?” like they think its going to make their bills huge lol

Answer #3

itll use up only as much as the LED light (if it has one that is) needs…other than that no it doesnt take up any sorta power…your bills wont become bigger :P

Answer #4

Only as much as the charger can store. It won’t take up as much power as it would if the laptop was connected to it. But it would still take up some power.

Answer #5

I never thought about this I guess I should unplug mine too

Answer #6

It does take energy because the charger is still sucking energy

Answer #7

It does and it will cost your parents
