What are the disadvantages of journalism to the society?

journalism could be slanted, leaning more toward one side and not showing the opinion of each argument. also journalism can also be slander, i think that is what the word is lol when the journalism is just a negative rant. those are disadvantages/negatives to the people who absorb the news.

Potential tool for manipulating public opinion. Maybe a disclaimer should proceed all articles stating that it soley the opinion of the writer much like what happens when the 700 club comes on.

journalism allows for information to be distorted. I remember having one of my college teachers being identified as opposed to a particular university tradition (which made her very unpopular among the students) by a mainstream tabloid, and she tried to make all ammendments possible, but it was too late.
